Job Title: Freelance Graphic Designer (Part-Time, Fixed-Term)

Project Duration: September – December 2026

Location: Remote / Preferably based in Dubai, UAE

Project Overview

We are seeking an experienced freelance Graphic Designer to lead the design, layout and production of a comprehensive Operations Manual. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming complex operational content into a professional, highly readable publication while ensuring consistency, usability and visual clarity throughout.

A key component of this project involves converting technical stadium layout drawings and PDF maps into simplified, user-friendly wayfinding graphics suitable for venue teams with no technical background.

Key Responsibilities

Operations Manual Design & Layout

  • Design and format a professional, visually engaging and easy-to-navigate Operations Manual.
  • Establish and maintain a consistent visual identity, typography system, grid structure and document hierarchy throughout the manual.
  • Create templates, paragraph styles, character styles and master pages to ensure consistency and facilitate future updates.
  • Incorporate supplied content, graphics, tables and imagery while maintaining high standards of readability and presentation.

Stadium Map Simplification & Wayfinding Design

  • Review and interpret technical stadium PDF layouts and architectural drawings.
  • Extract key operational and wayfinding information from complex plans.
  • Redesign stadium maps into simplified, intuitive and visually accessible guides for non-technical users.
  • Develop clear legends, directional markers, access routes and key points of interest to support operational use.

Interactive PDF Production

  • Produce a fully interactive and optimised PDF version of the Operations Manual.
  • Create a clickable Table of Contents, internal navigation links, bookmarks, cross-references and external hyperlinks where required.
  • Ensure the final PDF is suitable for both desktop and mobile viewing.

File Management & Version Control

  • Maintain well-organised working files and folder structures throughout the project.
  • Apply a systematic version control process to support efficient content revisions and future updates.
  • Deliver all editable source files and linked assets upon project completion.

Required Qualifications

Software & Equipment

  • Active personal subscription to Adobe InDesign and relevant Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Access to personal hardware capable of supporting large-format document production and graphic design workflows.

Professional Experience

  • Proven experience designing and formatting multi-page publications, operational manuals, technical documentation or corporate reports.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality document design and information layout.
  • Experience creating interactive PDFs and digital publications.

Wayfinding & Map Design

  • Demonstrated ability to translate complex architectural plans, technical drawings or venue layouts into clear, user-friendly maps and visual guides.
  • Understanding of wayfinding principles, information hierarchy and user-centred design.

Skills & Competencies

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Strong understanding of typography, layout design, visual hierarchy and document accessibility.
  • Ability to manage multiple revisions while maintaining consistency across large documents.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Availability & Commitment

  • Must have sufficient freelance capacity and guaranteed availability throughout the project period (September–December 2026).
  • Available to participate in weekly remote and/or in-office progress meetings.
  • Able to meet agreed milestones and project deadlines.
  • Responsive to feedback and capable of implementing revisions within agreed turnaround times.

Deliverables

  • Fully designed Operations Manual.
  • Simplified stadium wayfinding maps.
  • Interactive PDF with clickable navigation and hyperlinks.
  • Editable Adobe InDesign package, linked assets, fonts (where licensing permits) and final PDF files.
  • Organised source files suitable for future maintenance and updates.

Application Requirements

Interested candidates should submit:

  • Portfolio showcasing relevant document design and wayfinding/map design experience.
  • Brief summary of similar projects completed.
  • Confirmation of availability for at least fourteen (14) working days in September and fourteen (14) working days in October, as well as full availability throughout November and December 2026.
  • Proposed project fee.

Intellectual Property

All preparatory materials, concepts, drafts, working files, templates, source files, designs, artwork and final deliverables created as part of this project shall become the exclusive property of AFG. The successful freelancer shall assign all intellectual property rights relating to the work produced under this engagement to AFG and shall not reproduce, distribute or commercially exploit any project materials without prior written consent from AFG.
