BMA Joining / Transfer/ Arrival Area (Airside/ Baggage)

Purpose of the Job

The purpose of this role is to reconcile, load, unload and deliver passenger baggage which is a part of entire baggage processing and handling from baggage make-up areas. To ensure baggage is collected and delivered to correct assigned areas using TRC. To ensure consistent delivery of high performance standards within the time constraints of the service level agreements of the customer airlines, whilst maintaining Health & Safety and good working practices in line with company policy. To lead their team by example to ensure the smooth processing of baggage from joining, transfer as well as baggage break-up area. Effective use of SITA Bag Manager system for baggage reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities

• To work closely with the Belt Team Leader to ensure customer requirements are met which includes work place re-allocation& schedule change when necessary.
  • Clear knowledge of using HHT’s for scanning the bags and reconcile through SITA BagManager System
  • Use of a baggage trolleys, Baggage tractors (after licensed) as well as pallet and container dollies
  • Delivery of baggage to the aircraft side
  • Delivery of baggage to the arrivals belt and unloading of baggage onto the reclaim belt.
  • Delivery of baggage to the Transfer Unit / Drop Off Point.
  • Delivery / collection of empty containers to / from the appropriate storage area.
  • Reporting of defective equipment. Accidents/ Injuries as witnessed.
  • Ensuring daily Inspections are done, and equipment is kept clean and tidy and is stored in the correct area and manner.
  • Ensuring any F.O.D. is dealt with appropriately.
  • Understanding and acting upon all prevailing Airport Notices and instructions / Company instruction.
  • Ensuring that all Health & Safety requirements are adhered to and the reporting of those that are not.
  • Escorting of staff on a temporary pass.
  • Ensuring Company procedures, discipline and performance are met.
  • Ensuring Airport Security requirements are adhered to.
  • Representing the Company in a professional manner.
  • To work in each area of the business as required by the workloads.

  • Any other duties and responsibilities that the Company requires in order to achieve the smooth running of the operation.
  • To accurately complete the necessary reporting forms day-to-day
  • Correct tie-down procedures in line with IATA guidelines
  • Adhere to the company Safety Compliance Policy, Security Policy and Health & Safety Policy.
