OverviewThe opportunityWe are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Applied Scientist to join our AI team to work on Healthcare and Medical applications. As an Applied Scientist at Core42, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing state-of-the-art AI models and related computational tools to contribute solving critical healthcare challenges and designing AI solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of data scientists, engineers, and healthcare professionals to drive innovation in the field of healthcare AI.Core42 is the UAE’s national-scale enabler for cloud and generative AI, combining G42 Group’s expertise across multiple technology disciplines into a single platform for public sector and large enterprise transformations. Building on our capabilities as sovereign cloud and HPC specialist, we bring generative AI, cybersecurity, professional and managed services expertise to enable national-scale program deployments across industries.ResponsibilitiesYour key responsibilitiesAI Solutions Development: Design, develop, and implement machine learning and deep learning algorithms for various healthcare applications, including predictive modeling and clinical decision support systems using various type of data ranging from Genomic data to Medical Images and Language Data.Data Analysis: Work with large and complex healthcare datasets, ensuring data quality, preprocessing, and feature engineering to extract meaningful insights and build robust AI models. Model Training and Evaluation: Train, continual pretrain, fine-tune, and validate AI models using healthcare data to advance state-of-the-art solutions and employ standard evaluation techniques. Collaboration: Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, bioinformatitians, data engineers, and product managers, to understand healthcare domain requirements and translate them into AI solutions.Research: Stay current with the latest advancements in AI and healthcare and apply research findings to improve existing models and develop novel approaches.Ethical Considerations: Ensure that AI solutions adhere to ethical and regulatory guidelines in healthcare, including patient privacy and data security.Documentation: Document research findings, methodologies, and code for reproducibility and knowledge sharing within the team.QualificationsSkills and attributes for successPh.D. or Masters degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related field with a previous experience in healthcare AI research and development.Proven experience in developing and deploying machine learning and deep learning models for healthcare applications.Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch and related Python libraries.Knowledge of healthcare data, including EHRs, medical imaging, and clinical data.Strong knowledge of dimensionality reduction techniques (as t-SNE, UMAP, and MDS) and visualization techniques.Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently and in a team.Ideally, you’ll also havePublications in peer-reviewed conferences (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICCV, CVPR, MICCAI, etc.) or journals (Transactions of IEEE or Nature) related to AI.Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and scalable AI deployment.Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP) techniques for healthcare text data.Knowledge of Foundation Models, including LLMs and diffusion models.Strong communication skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-AI-technical stakeholders.What we look forIf you are a performance-driven, inquisitive mind with the agility to adapt to ambiguity, you will fit right in.
