Associate – DIFC & Global Banking Management Team (UAE National) Job reference: 0000KYFM We are currently seeking an ambitious UAE National to join our Global Banking Management Office Team in Dubai, working together with colleagues to define, manage and achieve divisional business targets. The role holder will be integrally involved in a broad range of activities, working with Global and Regional stakeholders to proactively advance the Global Banking business agenda in MENAT. In addition, the role supports the required supervision and oversight of permitted Global Banking and Markets (GBM) business activity in and from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). This job supports client facing teams both for general GB matters and for DIFC bookings without being directly client facing. Responsibilities - Support and implement the Global Banking Strategy ensuring alignment with Global and MENAT specific initiatives & any strategic projects - Support Senior Managers with BAU & non-BAU activities, cyclical work pieces such as regular governance forums, annual reporting and short term initiatives - Support the GBM ExCO and communicate to facilitate reviews and decisions required in relation to permitted GBM activity in the DIFC - Maintain and develop strong understanding of the DFSA regulatory landscape - Co-ordinate with Relationship Managers (and where required agent banks) and Portfolio Management on the loans and advances portfolio and understand and discuss strategies for optimizing the portfolio - Engage with other members of the Customer Service Team, across geographies and product areas to ensure seamless delivery of HBME strategy to the clients - Coordinate with Market Treasury and Global Markets to ensure smooth functioning and booking of trades - Work in close partnership with the Coverage teams, Risk stewards such as Legal & Compliance to drive the MENAT GB strategic growth agenda in line with HSBC values - Respond to Ad hoc requests in an independent manner, working directly with the GB leadership team - Supporting collaboration efforts across all Lines of Business such as CIB, GPS and GTS as well as key functional partners - Sharing best practices to ensure alignment and enhanced connectivity across the business - Deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure individual conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets - Support in business planning activities which may include financial, technological and resource planning - Support senior management decision making by use of management information, performance information, analytics, forums and stakeholder feedback - Support in forums and committees to represent view of business area - Support internal governance activities Requirements - University Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Engineering - Experience of operating as part of a diverse and geographically dispersed team within a complex matrix environment - Possess financial and accounting acumen & understanding - General understanding of risk management and mitigation - General knowledge of/experience related to compliance matters, including AML, financial crime, reputational risk etc. Knowledge of DFSA regulations added benefit. - Displays attention to detail at all times and demonstrates high personal standards - Well organized and demonstrates a logical and flexible approach to problem solving with an ability to prioritize effectively - Positive and proactive attitude with flexibility to accommodate a changing environment and willingness to take on new responsibilities - Strong interpersonal and communication skills - Good stakeholder and relationship management skills - Self-driven, diligent, motivated to learn and be pro‑active on the job - Graduation degree is a must – to secure a UAE Visa and Work Permit
