Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Workshop Manager to lead the maintenance, repair, inspection, and technical support of airport ground support equipment.
The successful candidate will manage workshop personnel, maintenance programmes, fault diagnosis, technical documentation, spare-parts inventory, workplace safety, and equipment availability. The role requires strong practical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, diesel, and battery-powered GSE systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all daily GSE workshop activities.
- Lead, supervise, train, and evaluate mechanics, electricians, technicians, and support personnel.
- Plan preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
- Develop maintenance schedules based on manufacturer requirements, operating hours, calendar intervals, and equipment condition.
- Issue and allocate job cards and monitor work quality, productivity, and completion times.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, engine, transmission, braking, steering, and battery-system faults.
- Supervise inspections, servicing, repairs, overhauls, modifications, testing, and commissioning.
- Review completed maintenance and perform final inspections before equipment release.
- Coordinate emergency breakdown response and recovery of unserviceable equipment.
- Investigate repetitive defects, perform root-cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions.
- Develop workshop procedures, maintenance instructions, inspection checklists, and troubleshooting guides.
- Maintain accurate equipment histories, operating hours, maintenance records, defect reports, and modification records.
- Monitor equipment availability, reliability, repair turnaround time, repeat defects, and maintenance costs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly workshop performance reports.
- Control workshop tools, test equipment, calibration, consumables, lubricants, tyres, and batteries.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, environmental, fire-prevention, and housekeeping requirements.
- Support the technical evaluation, procurement, inspection, commissioning, and acceptance of new and used GSE.
- Coordinate with equipment manufacturers, authorized dealers, suppliers, customers, and external technical service providers.

The candidate must be able to read, understand, interpret, and correctly apply:

Spare-Parts Management
The Workshop Manager will:
- Identify parts using manufacturer manuals, catalogues, and approved part numbers.
- Establish minimum and maximum inventory levels for critical spare parts.
- Forecast requirements for spare parts, tyres, batteries, filters, lubricants, and consumables.
- Prepare purchase requests and accurate technical specifications.
- Review supplier quotations and verify the suitability of proposed parts.
- Inspect incoming parts for correct part numbers, quantities, condition, and documentation.
- Control storage, preservation, issuance, traceability, and inventory records.
- Monitor obsolete, slow-moving, damaged, and unserviceable parts.
- Coordinate warranty claims and replacement-part requests.
Required Equipment Experience
Candidates should have practical maintenance experience with several of the following:
- Aircraft pushback and tow tractors
- Baggage and cargo tractors
- Main-deck and lower-deck cargo loaders
- Container and pallet transporters
- Belt loaders
- Passenger stairs
- Ground power units
- Air-start units
- Pre-conditioned air units
- Water and lavatory service vehicles
- Catering trucks and high loaders
- Ambulifts
- Forklifts and material-handling equipment
- Airport buses and service vehicles
- Diesel, petrol, electric, and battery-powered GSE
Academic and Professional Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical, Electromechanical, Mechatronics, Heavy Equipment, or a related engineering discipline.
- GSE manufacturer training or specialized airport-equipment maintenance training is highly desirable.
- Minimum four years of practical experience in aviation GSE maintenance, repair, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and workshop operations.
- Workshop supervision or management experience is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage technicians, job cards, maintenance programmes, technical records, tools, and spare-parts inventory.
- Experience establishing, commissioning, or reorganizing a GSE workshop is an advantage.
- Experience inspecting and accepting new and used GSE is desirable.
- A valid UAE driving licence is preferred.
- Must satisfy applicable UAE employment and work-permit requirements.
Software, Computer and AI Skills
- Strong computer literacy and the ability to learn new technical applications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft 365.
- Able to work effectively with computerized maintenance-management systems.
- Familiar with diagnostic applications, electronic parts catalogues, manufacturer portals, and web-based technical manuals.
- Able to use workshop software for work orders, maintenance schedules, equipment histories, inventory control, and performance reporting.
- Able to use AI tools responsibly for troubleshooting support, technical research, report preparation, maintenance planning, inventory analysis, and workflow improvement.
- Able to verify software- and AI-generated information against approved manufacturer documentation before implementation.
