About AI training work
AI training (also called data labeling or annotation) is the human work behind modern AI systems. Tasks include listening, labeling, and evaluating examples that teach models to understand language, audio, images, and more.
This role sits at the intersection of customer support and speech understanding: your annotations help models learn to recognize customer sentiment in real-world calls.
The role
Classify recorded customer support calls by the customer's sentiment. Each recording is 2–5 minutes long and must be labeled with exactly one of five sentiment categories: overly-negative, negative, neutral, positive, or overly-positive.
This is an entry-level, part-time contractor role that fits well as flexible work. No prior experience is required.
- Data type: audio call recordings (2–5 minutes each).
- Label type: classification (one label per call).
- Sentiment labels: overly-negative, negative, neutral, positive, overly-positive.
What you'll do
Listen carefully to each call and assign the single sentiment label that best describes the customer's overall tone and attitude during the call. Follow the project's labeling instructions and examples to ensure consistent judgments.
Work at your own pace within the project's time expectations; many contributors complete tasks in short sessions that fit around other commitments.
- Review each 2–5 minute recording and choose one sentiment label.
- Apply labeling guidelines and examples provided with the assignment.
- Deliver accurate, consistent labels so models learn realistic customer behavior.
Requirements
No prior experience is required — this project is open to entry-level contributors. You should be comfortable listening to short audio recordings and making clear judgments about customer sentiment.
The project is open worldwide and accepts contract contributors. Specific language requirements are not listed; follow the assignment details for any language expectations.
- Experience level: entry level — no other experience needed.
- Time commitment: less than 20 hours per week.
- Employment type: contractor, part-time.
Compensation & time
Compensation is a fixed price of USD 100 for the labeling project as listed. Time commitment is expected to be under 20 hours per week, making this a flexible, part-time opportunity.
Worldwide applicants are welcome. Specific payment schedule and milestone details will be provided through OpenTrain when you are onboarded.
