Chief Sustainability Officer / CSO

Role Description The Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) will lead the development and implementation of sustainability strategies across sourcing, packaging, logistics, and customer engagement. This part-time, hybrid role is based in Dubai, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements.

Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing environmental impacts of operations, defining sustainability goals, and aligning practices with health, safety, and environmental regulations. The CSO will collaborate with leadership to integrate sustainable procurement, waste reduction, and energy-efficient practices, as well as design policies that support safe transportation and storage of fruits. The role also involves monitoring compliance, conducting internal reviews, preparing sustainability reports, and engaging partners to promote responsible practices across the supply chain.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Health & Safety, with the ability to design and oversee safety policies and procedures.
  • Expertise in Environment Health and Safety (EHS), including development and implementation of environmental and safety management systems.
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health principles to ensure safe working conditions throughout operations and logistics.
  • Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH or equivalent, demonstrating competence in health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Experience in Auditing health, safety, and environmental processes to ensure regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Background in sustainability strategy, preferably within supply chain, agriculture, food, or FMCG sectors.
  • Ability to analyze data, set measurable sustainability targets, and report on performance to stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience collaborating across cultures and geographies.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Sustainability, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in a hybrid setup and manage part-time responsibilities effectively.
