<p>Jeremy Valeriote, MLA for West Vancouver – Sea to Sky is seeking to fill the position of<strong> Constituency Advisor</strong> for his office based in Squamish.</p> <p><span style="font-weight: 400">A Constituency Advisor (CA) is a non-partisan employee responsible for answering public enquiries in the Constituency Office (CO) of a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The CA manages and responds to constituent casework on a strictly confidential basis and maintaining excellent customer service, including outreach and correspondence with provincial ministries. The CA is part of a team led by the Constituency Manager (CM) providing administrative, research, and constituency support for the MLA.</span></p> <h3>About the Role, Benefits and Perks:</h3> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Salary range of $43,000 – $54,000+ per year based on full or part time hours. </span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Schedule is Monday – Friday, with occasional coverage outside regular office hours.</span></li> <li>Office hours are at a downtown Squamish location.</li> <li>15 vacation days annually plus all statutory provincial holidays.</li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Extended Health and Dental Plan.</span></li> <li>Public Service Pension.</li> preferred;</li> <li>2 years of relevant experience in a public service or customer-facing environment;</li> <li>Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends, and public holidays;</li> <li>Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective diplomacy and good judgement is an integral part of this position;</li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Maintaining strict confidentiality in all matters related to individual constituents and groups’ interactions with the CO, except where expressly waived by the individual or group;</span></li> style="font-weight: 400">Able to focus on anticipating, meeting or exceeding the needs of the MLA and/or constituent in a timely and appropriate manner;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Ability to administer the various aspects of a community office, with well-established organizational skills;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Ability to work under pressure, flexibly, and to be decisive in order to meet deadlines;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Tactful, diligent and reliable;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Understand the role of the three levels of government, plus a cross-section of provincial issues/concerns;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Ability to consult and adhere to all applicable policies of the MLA or policies that apply to the MLA;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Strong writing and interpersonal skills;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Knowledge of local electoral district (riding) and its priorities, and able to develop a thorough understanding of community resources to which constituents can be referred for assistance;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">The ability to use social media, graphic design, and update a website are assets;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Computer skills including MS Office proficiency is essential;</span></li> </ul> <h3><strong>Responsibilities Include: </strong></h3> <ol> <li><i><span style="font-weight: 400"> Assistance and Advocacy for Constituents</span></i></li> </ol> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Respond to constituent inquiries and casework including outreach and correspondence by email, phone call, or in person meetings;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Liaise with provincial government ministry offices and administrative bodies in order to provide constituents with information and assistance in resolving questions and problems;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Use knowledge of community resources to refer constituents for further assistance.</span></li> </ul> <ol start="2"> <li><i><span style="font-weight: 400"> Community Outreach and Liaison</span></i></li> </ol> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Monitor local government and community activities to keep the MLA informed on local issues;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Advise and assist the MLA in enhancing their role and duties in the constituency;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">On-the-job travel to accompany the MLA to meetings and functions, as required.</span></li> </ul> <ol start="3"> <li><i><span style="font-weight: 400"> Information and Public Relations</span></i></li> </ol> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Provide constituents and community bodies with information and clarification on legislation, regulations, and government policies and programs;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Monitor the local press in order to advise about community issues;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Assist with social media, newsletters, and other outreach communications as required.</span></li> </ul> <ol start="4"> <li><i><span style="font-weight: 400">Administration and Organizational Tasks</span></i></li> </ol> <ul> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Assist with the management of the CO under the supervision of the CM; </span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Perform administrative tasks such as updating databases, budgeting, bookkeeping, electronic and paper records management (filing), ordering office supplies and responding to correspondence;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">May have responsibility for supervision of volunteers, or students working in practicum programs, based in the CO;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Assist with the MLA’s schedule, travel arrangements, and meetings, as required;</span></li> <li style="font-weight: 400"><span style="font-weight: 400">Assist the CM with any other administrative tasks including WorkSafeBC filings, and Legislative Assembly expenses and payroll
