About the roleWestern Union is seeking a senior leader to head AML compliance for the Middle East, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Based in Dubai, you will guide a growing team, shape regional strategy and ensure the company meets evolving regulatory expectations while supporting innovative digital and wallet‑based products.Key responsibilitiesLead AML compliance across the region, overseeing risk exposure linked to customers, geography and partner networks.Act as the primary compliance advisor to regional and country leadership, delivering clear guidance on risk, controls and regulatory expectations.Represent Western Union with regulators and external stakeholders, building credibility and facilitating business growth.Maintain and enhance AML frameworks to stay effective, scalable and aligned with regulatory changes.Manage and develop a Dubai‑based team, expanding capabilities for regionalized operations.Guide compliance strategy for digital and wallet‑based offerings, embedding appropriate controls.Handle complex, high‑impact issues and escalations, balancing regulatory and commercial priorities.Collaborate with business and functional teams to integrate compliance into market expansion, partnerships and product initiatives.Required profileProven leadership experience in AML compliance within the Middle East, Pakistan or Afghanistan.Demonstrated accountability for risk oversight and successful program delivery.Extensive background in financial services, payments or regulatory environments, including interaction with central banks.Strong judgment and ability to navigate diverse, evolving regulatory landscapes.Required skillsWhat we offerOpportunity to shape regional AML strategy for a global payments leader.Hybrid work model with a minimum of three days per week in the Dubai office.Leadership of a high‑performing, growing compliance team.
