Electrical Engineer – 3.3kV/MV Switchgear

Job Purpose
The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical and site support for the replacement, installation, testing, commissioning, and associated electrical works for 3.3kV/MV switchgear at DUGAS facilities.
The successful candidates will be temporarily deployed to DUGAS facilities for the duration of the project and are expected to work closely with the client, project, maintenance, and site teams to ensure that the switchgear replacement activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures and technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
· Supervise and support the replacement and installation of 3.3kV/MV switchgear and associated electrical equipment.
· Review electrical drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), wiring diagrams, specifications, and technical documentation.
· Carry out and/or supervise pre-commissioning, testing, and commissioning activities.
· Perform or coordinate insulation resistance, contact resistance, breaker timing, functional and other applicable electrical tests.
· Check circuit breaker operation, interlocks, protection and control circuits.
· Support testing of protection relays and associated control systems.
· Verify CT/PT circuits, polarity, ratios, and associated protection wiring where applicable.
· Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical and switchgear-related issues during installation and commissioning.
· Coordinate with technicians and other site personnel to ensure proper execution of the work.
· Review and verify test results and ensure proper documentation of all activities.
· Prepare daily progress reports, inspection reports, test reports, and other required technical documentation.
· Coordinate with DUGAS representatives and other stakeholders regarding technical and site requirements.
· Ensure all work is performed in accordance with approved method statements, risk assessments, Permit to Work (PTW), and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
· Ensure compliance with applicable HSE requirements and Oil & Gas site safety procedures.
· Report any unsafe conditions, defects, deviations, or technical issues immediately.
· Support troubleshooting and rectification of defects identified during testing and commissioning.
· Perform other reasonable technical duties related to the project as assigned by Management.
Required Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
· Minimum 6 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
· Proven experience with 3.3kV/MV switchgear.
· Strong hands-on experience in switchgear installation, testing, commissioning, maintenance, or replacement.
· Oil & Gas industry experience is mandatory.
· Experience working in industrial plants, process facilities, utilities, or similar environments is highly preferred.
· Experience with VCB/MV circuit breakers, protection relays, CTs/PTs, control circuits, and electrical protection systems.
· Experience in shutdown, turnaround, maintenance, or switchgear replacement projects is an advantage.
· Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and Single Line Diagrams.
· Knowledge of electrical safety, isolation, PTW, and LOTO procedures.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Candidate Requirements
· Must be currently residing in the UAE.
· Must be available to join immediately or within a short notice period.
· Must be willing and available for temporary deployment to DUGAS facilities.
· Must be willing to work according to the project/site schedule, including extended hours when required.
· Candidates without relevant 3.3kV/MV switchgear and Oil & Gas experience will not be considered.
Project Assignment
The successful candidates will be engaged on a temporary project basis for approximately 3–4 weeks and will be deployed to DUGAS facilities for the 3.3kV/MV switchgear replacement project.
The assignment may be subject to extension depending on project requirements and Management/client approval.
