Emirati Talent- Manager, Mechanical Design | Majid Al Futtaim - Development

ROLE SUMMARY The Mechanical Design Manager, reporting to the MEP Design Lead, is responsible for reviewing, coordinating, and optimizing mechanical system designs across Majid Al Futtaim developments. The role ensures design quality, constructability, sustainability, and compliance with Majid Al Futtaim standards and applicable codes. Supporting projects from concept through handover, the position drives innovation, digital design, operational efficiency, and sustainability initiatives in line with Majid Al Futtaim developments Net Zero targets.

ROLE PROFILE

  • Review and ensure the quality, completeness, and technical accuracy of mechanical designs, including HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting, and gas systems.
  • Coordinate mechanical systems with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
  • Review BIM models, drawings, and clash detection outputs using Navisworks and other coordination tools.
  • Ensure compliance with project briefs, Majid Al Futtaim design standards, and applicable local and international codes and regulations.
  • Evaluate design constructability and provide value engineering solutions to optimize cost, performance, efficiency, and sustainability outcomes.
  • Review technical documentation, including specifications, calculations, reports, shop drawings, material submissions, and method statements.
  • Support construction activities through site visits, technical guidance, issue resolution, and review of mock-ups to ensure alignment with approved designs.
  • Collaborate with consultants and internal stakeholders, manage design risks, participate in coordination meetings, and contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the mechanical discipline.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • 5 - 7 years of mechanical design experience across retail, residential, mixed-use, and large-scale developments.
  • Proven experience across the full project lifecycle, including design review, coordination, and construction support.
  • Strong knowledge of UAE regulations and mechanical design standards; GCC/MENA experience is preferred.
  • Membership in a recognized professional body (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE) is preferred.
  • LEED, BREEAM, or other sustainability certifications are advantageous.
