Executive Manager - Business Banking Risk and Control

Role Overview:

To manage and enhance the Business Banking risk and control framework across Retail Banking by providing governance, oversight and control management over Business Banking portfolios, products, processes and regulatory obligations in order to support sustainable portfolio growth, informed decision making and alignment with the Bank's risk appetite In this role, your key responsibilities include: Manage and enhance the Business Banking risk and control framework across Retail Banking to ensure operational, regulatory, conduct, financial crime and portfolio risks are identified, assessed, monitored and managed within the Bank's approved risk appetite while supporting sustainable portfolio growth and customer outcomes

Provide leadership and oversight for risk governance activities, challenge material control weaknesses and risk exposures, and support management in strengthening the control environment and maintaining appropriate risk discipline

Manage first-line risk governance activities across Business Banking portfolios, products, channels and processes to ensure policies, controls and governance requirements are consistently applied and risk exposures remain within approved parameters

Monitor portfolio quality, emerging risks, policy exceptions and control performance indicators and provide recommendations to management to support informed business decisions and sound risk management practices

Oversee the review and enhancement of preventive, detective and corrective controls across Business Banking to ensure key risks are appropriately mitigated and control effectiveness is demonstrated through assurance activities

Manage control testing programmes, thematic reviews and control assessments to identify weaknesses, support remediation and improve control maturity across the business

Manage regulatory, compliance and financial crime risk activities across Business Banking to support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and governance requirements

Review significant compliance concerns, regulatory findings and financial crime issues, ensuring corrective actions are implemented and progress is reported through appropriate governance channels

Oversee Risk and Control Self-Assessment activities, risk inventories and Key Risk Indicators to ensure material risks are identified, assessed and monitored and that mitigation plans are implemented where required

Review assessment outcomes, challenge risk ratings and control effectiveness and support management in addressing key risk exposures through appropriate governance and action plans

Manage the risk governance framework for Business Banking portfolios by reviewing portfolio trends, risk appetite metrics, policy exceptions and control performance indicators to support sound portfolio quality and risk-based decision making

Provide oversight and challenge on emerging risks, concentration exposures and governance outcomes to ensure material issues are identified, escalated and managed within approved risk parameters

Manage the monitoring and reporting of Business Banking risk exposures, portfolio quality indicators, control effectiveness measures and governance outcomes to provide management with meaningful insight into emerging risks, control gaps and areas requiring intervention

Oversee the resolution of operational risk events, audit observations, regulatory findings and control deficiencies by reviewing remediation progress, challenging corrective actions and supporting continuous enhancement of the Business Banking control environment

Contribute to the preparation of the business area’s budget and manage and monitor the financial performance against the budget so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified, rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon The ideal candidate should have the following experience: At least 8 years of experience in Business Banking, Commercial Banking, Risk Management, Operational Risk, Business Controls, Audit or Compliance within Banking or Financial Services environments

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Accounting, Risk Management, Economics or a related discipline
