The school opened in 2017. It offers an inclusive, exciting and outstanding education to an international community of students from FS1 to Year 13 

The campus is state-of-the-art with separate buildings for each phase as well as a 380 seat auditorium. There are three temperature controlled swimming pools, fully equipped science and computer labs, specialist rooms for art, DT, music, and drama, a library, two multipurpose sports halls, a full size football pitch, a variety of outdoor play areas and a spacious canteen.  Our sprawling 292,000 sqft campus boasts 3 buildings dedicated for each phase, and we are thrilled to announce the recent opening of our brand new secondary building in August 2025, marking our most ambitious project yet.

Dubai Heights Academy provides a curriculum that meets the needs of all of our students and follows the National Curriculum for England as the basis of its curriculum. This has been tailored to comply with local requirements and supplemented with Arabic language, Islamic Studies, Moral Education and Social Studies. In addition, Dubai Heights Academy has partnered with MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) to develop and deliver a bespoke AI (artificial intelligence) project-based programme for secondary and an early language programme using social robots for Primary, to further enrich our broad and balanced curriculum.

Job Overview

Dubai Heights Academy are seeking an enthusiastic and reliable female PE Swimming Coach to support our PE department and school sports programme. The successful candidate will play a key role in setting up lessons, maintaining equipment, supporting teaching staff, and helping deliver high-quality PE and sport across the school.

This role also includes coaching and managing selected sports teams, leading training sessions, and accompanying teams to fixtures and tournaments when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality swimming lessons appropriate to students’ ages, abilities and development levels.

  • Teach and develop swimming techniques, water confidence, stamina and water safety skills.

  • Assess students’ swimming abilities and monitor their progress throughout the programme.

  • Adapt coaching methods to meet individual learning needs and abilities.

  • Maintain a safe, well-organised and positive pool environment at all times.

  • Ensure all swimming and pool safety procedures are followed consistently.

  • Supervise students closely and respond appropriately to any safety or welfare concerns.

  • Communicate effectively with teachers, school staff and parents regarding student progress where required.

  • Support swimming events, competitions, clubs and extracurricular activities.

  • Maintain appropriate records of attendance, assessment and student progress.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to contribute to the wider sporting and extracurricular programme.

  • Provide administrative and operational support to the PE Department, including the coordination of activities, events, resources and day-to-day departmental requirements.

  • Undertake other reasonable duties as required by the school.

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A recognised swimming/coaching qualification.

  • Current lifesaving, lifeguarding and/or first aid certification appropriate to the role.

  • Previous experience coaching or teaching swimming, preferably within a school or educational setting.

  • Experience working with children and young people across different ages and ability levels.

  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, water safety and pool safety procedures.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, encouraging and positive approach to working with students.

  • The ability to differentiate instruction and adapt coaching techniques to individual needs.

  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable: Experience within a British Curriculum school and/or knowledge of school swimming programmes would be advantageous.

Interviews will take place at Dubai Heights Academy or online, should a face to face interview not be possible. The closing date for applications is as advertised, however interviews may take place ahead of this date so an early application is advantageous.
