Flight Test Airworthiness Specialist
The Flight Test Airworthiness Specialist ensures that in LODD s Hili UAS program all ground and flight test activities are conducted under effective airworthiness control with the correct configuration conformity status risk controls and documentation in place. The role prepares and maintains test airworthiness readiness packs verifies alignment between test objectives and compliance evidence needs and ensures evidence capture is suitable for ResponsibilitiesPrepare, maintain and control ground flight test airworthiness readiness packs including configuration conformity limitations and required approvals that the test article configuration is controlled and consistent with the intended compliance demonstration and evidence references prior to each test event.Confirm conformity readiness and ensure that configuration conformity statements are complete, current and traceable for certification use.Define and implement airworthiness risk controls for test activities hazard identification mitigations operating limitations and escalation triggers.Ensure evidence capture test data records deviations configuration snapshots is planned and executed to support compliance closure.Maintain test authorization traceability including readiness gate records approvals and changes impacting test intent or compliance applicability.Coordinate flight conditions PtF inputs with the Chief of Airworthiness and Authority Liaison where required by Hili program scope and procedures.Interface with configuration change compliance coordination to ensure real‑time alignment of test execution with baseline effectivity and approved changes.Exercise the authority to stop hold tests on airworthiness readiness grounds and drive corrective actions to restore readiness.Provide clear readiness status reporting and support close‑out of test actions anomalies and documentation updates affecting compliance evidence.QualificationsEngineering degree (aerospace, mechanical, electrical or equivalent) or comparable aviation technical experience in flight test certification and/or airworthiness control in an aircraft/UAS or approved article development environment.Strong capability to assemble and control test readiness documentation packs and maintain rigorous traceability of approvals and changes.Proven competence in configuration discipline (baseline control, effectivity awareness, configuration snapshots tied to evidence).Practical experience coordinating conformity/configuration confirmations for test and ensuring readiness prior to execution.Experience applying risk controls to test activities, including clear criteria for go/no‑go, limitations management, and knowledge of GCAA CAR 21 / EASA Part 21‑style certification evidence needs (how test plans/reports/data are used to support compliance closure).Ability to coordinate effectively across airworthiness, engineering, flight test operations, configuration management and authority liaison functions.High standard of written communication and documentation quality; able to produce clear, auditable readiness and evidence records.Familiarity with approval of flight conditions and Permit‑to‑Fly issuance support/packaging expectations.
