General Manager – Construction
Position TitleGeneral Manager – Construction Protective Coatings LocationRiyadh, Saudi Arabia (or as assigned) Reporting toManaging Director / CEO Position SummaryThe General Manager will provide overall leadership, strategic planning, business development, and execution of construction and protective coating operations. The role requires extensive experience in managing high‑rise buildings, luxury hotels, residential complexes, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects while ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, quality, and safety requirements. Key Responsibilities - Strategic Business Leadership – develop and implement business strategies to achieve growth and profitability; lead construction and coating operations across multiple projects; establish operational goals, KPIs, and performance standards; drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. - Construction Project Management – oversee all construction activities for high‑rise buildings, luxury hotels, residential complexes, industrial plants, and infrastructure projects; ensure projects are executed according to approved plans, specifications, quality standards, and contractual obligations; coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients; monitor project schedules and implement corrective actions to ensure timely completion; resolve technical, contractual, and operational challenges. - Protective Coatings – Specialized Services – manage industrial painting, protective coatings, waterproofing, corrosion protection, fireproofing, and concrete rehabilitation projects; ensure compliance with coating specifications, surface preparation standards, and quality requirements; oversee inspection, testing, and quality control activities. - Financial Commercial Management – prepare and manage annual budgets, project forecasts, and financial plans; monitor profitability, cash flow, and cost performance; review contracts, variation orders, claims, and commercial risks; optimize procurement strategies and supplier agreements; lead tendering, estimation, and contract negotiation. - Business Development – Client Management – identify and pursue new business opportunities; build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, developers, and government authorities; support proposal preparation, bid submissions, and contract negotiations; ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business. - Quality Safety Compliance – ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, industry standards, and client requirements; implement and maintain Quality Management Systems (QMS); promote a strong Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) culture across all projects; conduct audits and ensure adherence to quality and safety standards. - Resource Team Management – lead and mentor Project Managers, Construction Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and support staff; manage manpower planning, resource allocation, and workforce productivity; conduct performance reviews and support employee development initiatives; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. - Reporting – Project Controls – prepare and present regular project and business performance reports to senior management; monitor project KPIs, schedules, costs, and resource utilization; utilize project management and reporting tools for effective decision‑making. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline. - MBA or Project Management certification preferred. - Professional certifications such as PMP, PMI‑SP, or equivalent are advantageous. Experience Requirements - Minimum 15 years of experience in Construction, Industrial Services, and Protective Coatings. - Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role (General Manager, Operations Manager, Construction Manager, or Project Director). - Proven experience managing High‑Rise Buildings, Luxury Hotels, Residential Complexes, Commercial Buildings, Industrial Facilities, and Infrastructure Projects.
