Mechanical Assistant / Helper
Job description
• Assist in preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps, motors, valves, pipelines, pressure vessels, and other mechanical equipment.
• Support technicians during equipment overhauling, alignment, dismantling, and assembly activities.
• Carry tools, spare parts, and maintenance materials to work locations.
• Clean and maintain mechanical workshops, equipment rooms, and work areas.
• Assist in lubrication, inspection, and routine servicing of plant equipment.
• Help with installation and replacement of gaskets, bearings, seals, and pipe fittings.
• Participate in plant shutdown and startup activities under supervision.
• Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures.
• Report equipment abnormalities, leaks, unusual noises, or defects to supervisors.
• Support housekeeping and ensure work areas remain clean and safe.
• Assist in handling and moving equipment using proper lifting techniques and tools.
• Maintain maintenance records and complete assigned work orders when required.
Skills
• Basic knowledge of mechanical tools and equipment.
• Ability to read simple mechanical drawings is an advantage.
• Understanding of workplace safety practices.
• Physically fit and able to work in industrial environments.
• Ability to work in shifts and as part of a team.
• Experience in water treatment, wastewater treatment, or desalination plants, Oil & gas / industrial backgrounds are preferred.
Educational Requirements
• High School / Secondary School Certificate.
• ITI, Diploma, or vocational training in Mechanical Engineering, Fitter, or related trade preferred.
