Company Description HBL Zarai Services is a specialized agriculture platform created by HBL, Pakistan’s largest bank, in collaboration with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) to support sustainable prosperity, particularly for farming communities. Through integrated agricultural services, HBL Zarai strengthens Pakistan’s agriculture sector by improving farmer productivity, enhancing access to knowledge, services, and markets, and supporting long-term food security.
Its flagship HBL Zarai Deras serve as regional service hubs offering agronomy advisory, quality inputs, mechanization solutions, crop planning, and market linkages. Complementing these are HBL Zarai Dost Shops, which provide last-mile connectivity with certified inputs and basic advisory support in village and market locations. Together, this ecosystem supports farmers across the value chain, focusing on reducing cultivation costs, increasing productivity, and improving rural livelihoods.
Role Description The Officer Agriculture Services is a full-time, on-site role based in Burewala, supporting farmers and local agricultural stakeholders through HBL Zarai’s service ecosystem. The role involves engaging with farming communities, providing crop and agronomy advisory, facilitating access to quality inputs and mechanization solutions, and supporting livestock-related services in coordination with VetServices where applicable.
The officer will help farmers with crop planning, basic financial and market information, and linkage to digital and physical markets, while promoting structured and transparent agriculture services. Daily responsibilities include field visits, data collection and reporting, coordinating with HBL Zarai Deras and Dost Shops, and organizing awareness sessions or demonstrations to encourage informed decision making. The role also requires close collaboration with internal teams and partners to improve service delivery, ensure farmer satisfaction, and contribute to rural development goals.
Qualifications
- Solid foundation in Agriculture and Agribusiness, with the ability to understand farming systems, input requirements, and market dynamics.
- Knowledge of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development to analyze farm-level economics, support livelihood improvement, and contribute to sustainable community development.
- Strong Research skills to gather field data, assess farmer needs, monitor crop performance, and provide evidence-based advisory.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, or a related field.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with farmers, local stakeholders, and internal teams in a clear and respectful manner.
- Ability to work in field-based environments, conduct regular village and farm visits, and build trustful relationships with farming communities.
- Basic understanding of digital tools and mobile applications used in agriculture or financial services; comfort with data entry and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks, meet timelines, and maintain accurate records.
