Job Details FT / PT Status – Part-Time Salary – $16.89 - $16.89 Hourly Wage Remote Work / In-Office – In-Office / On-Site Recruiter – Melanie Butters | melanieb@usdb.org | 385-460-8266 Application Deadline – 8/31/2026 Opportunity for a meticulous and responsible Proofreader Aide at the Utah Schools for the Deaf and the Blind (USDB) Ogden campus. The position is part‐time, 4 hours per day, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Key Responsibilities Provide quality assurance by assisting Instructional Materials Technicians in the production of Braille accessible instructional materials for Utah students. Verify proof copy of Braille transcription against original script to detect grammatical, typographical, or compositional errors and marks. Ensure Braille documents are formatted correctly. Consult reference books or seek assistance from Instructional Materials Technicians to check references to rules of grammar and composition. Qualifications Experience reviewing documents for accuracy and completeness. Ability to understand and apply grammatical, typographical, and compositional rules to Braille material. Can read and understand instructional materials across curriculum areas from kindergarten through high school. Can read and interpret tactile graphics in subjects such as language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies. Understand and use common proofreading and standard printer's marks. Use automated software applications. Successful completion of a criminal background check.
