QA Engineer / Software Tester
Role Description The QA Engineer / Software Tester is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of software applications through comprehensive testing and quality assurance processes. This role works closely with development and product teams to identify defects, validate system functionality, and support the delivery of high-quality software products that meet business and user requirements.
Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and executing test plans, test cases, and test scripts for functional, integration, regression, usability, and performance testing. The role performs both manual and automated testing to verify software functionality, identify defects, and ensure applications meet defined quality standards.
The position is responsible for documenting, tracking, and prioritizing software defects, conducting root cause analysis, and collaborating with developers to resolve issues efficiently. It verifies bug fixes, performs regression testing, and ensures resolved issues do not affect existing functionality.
The role participates throughout the software development lifecycle by reviewing requirements, contributing to test strategy, supporting release validation, and ensuring quality is integrated into every stage of development. It also contributes to test automation initiatives, continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes, and the continuous improvement of testing methodologies and quality standards.
Collaboration with software developers, product managers, business analysts, and cross-functional stakeholders is essential to ensure products meet functional requirements, performance expectations, and user experience standards. The role also prepares testing documentation, quality reports, and test metrics to support project transparency and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Strong understanding of software testing principles, quality assurance methodologies, software development lifecycle (SDLC), and defect management processes. Ability to design comprehensive test plans and execute both manual and automated testing.Proficiency in test management tools, bug tracking systems, automation frameworks, and API testing methodologies. Familiarity with version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and performance testing tools is an advantage.
Knowledge of web applications, mobile applications, databases, RESTful APIs, system integration, and software architecture concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify defects, perform root cause analysis, evaluate software quality, and recommend effective solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to document testing activities, communicate technical findings clearly, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
