Job Description:Senior Electrical Engineer – Design & Application (Medium Voltage Switchgear)Job PurposeTo execute detailed design and application engineering of Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear, ensuring compliance with IEC standards, accurate protection relay engineering, and timely project delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review SLDs, GA drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and interlocking logic for MV switchgear (AIS/GIS up to 36kV or company scope).Perform busbar sizing, short-circuit withstand calculations, and thermal compliance with IEC 62271 series and other applicable IEC standards.Support standardization by using approved engineering templates and libraries.Protection & Relay EngineeringSelection and application of numerical protection relays.Perform relay setting calculations (OCR, EF, REF, UV/OV, directional, differential as applicable).Configure and program protection relays as per project protection philosophy.Develop trip matrix and interlocking logic.Support protection coordination studies (ETAP / DigSILENT preferred).Assist during FAT and commissioning for relay validation and troubleshooting.Application EngineeringReview customer technical specifications and prepare compliance technical deviations and propose optimized solutions.Support sales and project teams with technical & Project SupportPrepare and review routine test procedures.Support factory acceptance tests (FAT).Provide technical support during manufacturing and site-related queries.QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.8–12 years of experience in MV switchgear design and protection engineering.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of IEC 62271 series and IEC protection standards (IEC 60255).Hands‑on experience in numerical relay programming (ABB / Siemens / Schneider or equivalent).Knowledge of protection coordination studies.Proficiency in AutoCAD / EPLAN or equivalent tools.CompetenciesStrong analytical and problem‑solving skills.Detail‑oriented with high engineering accuracy.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.Good communication skills for cross‑functional UsThe successful candidate will embrace Vertiv’s Core Principles & Behaviors to help execute our Strategic Priorities.OUR CORE PRINCIPLESSafety.
