Parsons Corporation is hiring an experienced survey-focused tunnel engineer to support the Resident Engineer - Tunnels, review alignment calculations, maintain control networks, monitor TBM positioning, and ensure tunneling activities comply with approved design tolerances, safety requirements, project specifications, and RTA procedures. Job Details Country: United Arab Emirates City: Dubai Industry: Civil Engineering Function: Surveying Salary: 18000-28000 Estimated salary range based on similar jobs in the job city; please confirm the final offer with the employer. Gender: Any Candidate Nationality: Any Job Type: Full-time Role Context The Tunnel Engineer will support construction supervision of major TBM tunnel works by providing detailed survey review, alignment monitoring, and underground control verification throughout excavation and lining activities. The role focuses on maintaining geometric accuracy as the TBM progresses through changing horizontal and vertical alignments. This includes reviewing traverse calculations, tunnel control points, virtual axis information, machine guidance inputs, settlement monitoring, and as-built survey data. Accurate survey control is essential to successful tunneling because even minor deviations can affect segment installation, breakthrough accuracy, station interfaces, NATM connections, and long-term tunnel performance. The engineer will therefore work closely with surveyors, inspectors, contractors, instrumentation teams, and senior tunnel engineers to identify deviations early and coordinate corrective action. Key Responsibilities * Support the Resident Engineer - Tunnels in supervising and reviewing survey works for TBM tunnel construction. * Prepare daily and weekly survey reports covering tunnel alignment performance and emerging deviations. * Analyze alignment trends and contribute survey findings to risk registers and non-conformance reports. * Monitor TBM operations and verify machine alignment against approved tunnel geometry. * Review surface monitoring information including settlement and heave measurements. * Check traverse calculations used to establish and extend underground survey control. * Verify implementation of tunnel Center Point information at stations and major interfaces. * Review tunnel virtual axis calculations and confirm they reflect approved design requirements. * Monitor TBM alignment to ensure excavation remains within specified tolerances. * Establish and maintain primary and secondary control networks within tunnel environments. * Verify transfer of surface control points through shafts and underground access locations. * Review survey data used for ring installation along horizontal and vertical curves. * Check TBM guidance calculations, laser target extensions, and alignment inputs. * Monitor TBM roll, pitch, and yaw and communicate deviations requiring engineering attention. * Participate in breakthrough planning and precise alignment verification. * Coordinate survey requirements with receiving shaft teams during breakthrough preparation. * Support 3D tunnel alignment measurements before and after breakthrough. * Review survey control during TBM break-in and break-out operations. * Assist with 3D measurement activities at annexes and other underground interfaces. * Participate in wriggle surveys and final as-built tunnel surveys. * Ensure tunnel survey data is collected, recorded, and retained accurately. * Use survey information to help identify critical areas requiring special precast rings. * Review setting-out points for NATM tunnel connections and annex interfaces. * Support 3D dimensional checks of moulds and precast tunnel segments during production. * Review shop drawings, method statements, and survey-related technical documentation. * Provide technical survey support during active tunneling operations. * Coordinate with surveyors, inspectors, engineers, and contractor teams to resolve alignment issues. * Maintain daily survey logs, alignment records, and supporting progress documentation. * Support preparation of weekly and monthly progress updates covering TBM survey activities. * Verify calibration and maintenance records for total stations, prisms, survey targets, and TBM-integrated sensors. * Coordinate with instrumentation and monitoring teams to combine survey and geotechnical information. * Review tunnel performance using both survey measurements and geotechnical monitoring data. * Ensure survey work complies with project specifications, ITA guidance, and relevant regulatory requirements. * Support emergency surveys following unexpected ground movement, machine stoppage, or other tunneling incidents. * Follow RTA safety procedures and promote safe working practices throughout underground operations. * Assist with preparation and verification of final as-built documentation. Ideal Profile Candidates should hold a bachelor 's degree in Civil Engineering, Geomatics Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university. A minimum of eight years of experience in TBM tunnel construction, tunneling surveys, metro works, or major underground infrastructure projects is required. Candidates should understand basic TBM operations, tunneling sequences, underground construction methods, and geometric control principles. Practical familiarity with total stations, laser guidance systems, 3D scanners, survey software, and tunnel alignment tools is important. The role requires the ability to review traverse calculations, alignment data, 3D measurements, and construction setting-out information. Knowledge of tunneling elements such as steel ribs, shotcrete, precast segments, and mobile scaffolds will strengthen suitability for the position. Candidates should be comfortable reading engineering drawings and following approved method statements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering or survey software is required. Previous experience supporting survey activities on metro, TBM, or NATM projects is preferred. UAE or GCC experience in consultancy or construction will be an advantage.
